Action for Children North Carolina’s President & CEO, Deborah Bryan issued the following statement regarding the passing of Julius Chambers:
“We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and former board member, Julius Chambers.
Julius was a North Carolina treasure, and a national leader. He has created a lasting legacy for the children and youth of our state. In 2009, Action for Children honored Julius with our Lifetime Legacy Award, which recognizes those who have spent a lifetime changing conditions to improve the future for children and youth. As a testament to Julius’ commitment to service, Governor Jim Hunt delivered the keynote address in honor of his friend.
We extend our condolences to Julius’ children and his entire family. We are comforted in knowing that his kind, strong and bright spirit will live on in our hearts and our work.”
