North Carolina Museum of Art received $2 million grant through 2016 from GlaxoSmithKline Foundation to support series of professional-development programs and Web resources to assist teachers in the state in integrating art across disciplines from kindergarten through 12th grade.

YMCA of the Greater Triangle, Raleigh, received $10,000 grant from Caterpillar Inc. to benefit after-school tutorial program.

No-fee coin-sorting machines installed by State Employees Credit Union at 240 of its branches throughout state starting in 2005 have sorted over $1 million for nonprofits, saving them roughly $75,000 in fees.

N.C. Housing Finance Agency awarded over $374,000 to CASA for construction of 10-unit, $1.3 million apartment community for homeless veterans with disabilities in Durham.

Conservation Trust of North Carolina, Raleigh, donated Falconhurst Natural Area, eight wooded acres near downtown Asheville, to city of Asheville in agreement that will bar development of site but allow some improvements for public use such as unpaved hiking trails and footbridges.
