RALEIGH, N.C.)– Action for Children North Carolina announced today that it has received a grant of $85,000 from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation to support child education, health, safety and economic security work.

For nearly 30 years, Action for Children has led the way in securing opportunities for all of North Carolina’s children to flourish.  As a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, Action for Children uses research, data collection, advocacy and education to initiate positive change on behalf of our North Carolina’s children.

“We are thrilled to be the recipients of such a generous grant,” said Deborah Bryan, President and CEO of Action for Children.  ”These funds allow Action for Children to provide data driven, evidence based information about public policy affecting children to citizens and policymakers across our state.  This critical information helps North Carolina’s leaders to invest limited resources in proven public policy measures which ensure that our children are healthy, safe, well-educated and have every opportunity for success.”

The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation was established in 1936 as a memorial to the youngest son of the founder of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.  The Foundation’s current focus areas include: community economic development; the environment; strengthening democracy; pre-collegiate education; and social justice equity.
