Environmental Safety

Action for Children supports the work of many organizations striving to ensure healthy school and living environments for North Carolina’s children.

Children cannot thrive when their physical environments are unsafe or unhealthy. Action for Children supports the work of organizations striving to create clean, safe living environments for North Carolina’s children and families. Particular areas of focus include safe housing, safe school and safe work environments.

Action for Children was instrumental in the passage of the Schoolchildren’s Health Act of 2006, which put into place protections against arsenic-treated wood, diesel school bus emissions, mold, mildew and pesticides on school grounds.
