New data released by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction shows the percentage of students graduating on-time with their peers reached a historic high for the graduating class of 2012.

The 23rd annual KIDS COUNT Data Book, released by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, indicates that while North Carolina has significant progress left to make in overall child well-being, the state's investments of the last years in health and education for children have delivered results. The 2012 KIDS COUNT Data Book offers a view of child well-being through an analysis of 16 indicators, grouped into four overall categories: Health, Economic Well-Being, Education, and Family and Community.

Raleigh, N.C. --The U.S. Census Bureau will release new national data on poverty next week.
Raleigh, N.C.-The 2011 Child Health Report Card, issued jointly by Action for Children North Carolina and the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, finds infant mortality in North Carolina has dropped to 7 per 1,000 live births -- an all-time low for the state.
