2008 Stewardship Award from the N.C. Center for Nonprofits

UNC grad joins board of kids' health organization, WCHL (12.10.10)

A UNC graduate has recently joined the board of Action for Children North Carolina.

Dr. Kathleen Clarke-Pearson, who earned her medical degree from UNC and a teaching degree from Columbia University in New York, was appointed to the organization’s Board of Directors. President and CEO Barbara Bradley says Clarke-Pearson’s expertise as both a medical and teaching professional makes her a unique addition to the board.

Action for Children North Carolina hired Laila Bell as director of research and data. She will collect and analyze data, maintain the online Kids Count Data Center, and provide technical assistance to data users statewide.

Group fighting poverty in NC gets $100,000, Fayetteville Observer (7/14/10)

Action for Children North Carolina announced Wednesday that the nonprofit advocacy group received $100,000 for general operating support.

The grant, from the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, will help Action for Children grow and continue to find ways to break the cycle of poverty in the state, according to the organization.
