Action for Children Fellows
For three decades, Tom Vitaglione served in the N.C. Division of Public Health providing essential services to the children of North Carolina. As chief of the Children & Youth section of the Division of Women's & Children's Health, Tom supervised all health programs for the state's youth including a wide range of prevention and specialized services. He was instrumental in promoting and bringing about the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and was a strong advocate for the Infant Homicide Prevention Act. Tom received his masters in public health from Columbia University.

Dr. Tayloe is a pediatrician and the immediate past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine and began his career at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and served on the Goldsboro City Schools Board of Education, as Chair of the Legislative Committee of the N.C. Pediatric Society and on the Legislative Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Volunteerism in Education and the Glaxo Child Health Advocate Award.
